Horses for Adoption

It is our goal to find qualified, lifelong homes for our horses. It is very important that they are matched with the right owner and will be suitable for the job you expect them to do. We prefer that you visit the prospective adoptee three times before you take them home. However, we understand that if you are coming from a long distance it may not be practical. Thus, we will work to ensure the process is as smooth as possible and that you and the horse are a good match.

Requirements to adopt a horse:

References - yes, we do check
Good Fencing - We do not consider a barbed wire fence appropriate for horses.
Adequate Shelter
Training - If you are adopting a young horse, we expect you to have the training skills needed to take the horse along to a valued member of your family. If using a trainer, we must also approve that trainer.
We do NOT approve boarding.

**Spring Creek Horse Rescue will NOT adopt out of state. You must be a Colorado resident.**

Once you have been approved to adopt and take your horse home, you are required to send us updates for a year. At the end of the year you will receive a brand inspection. If, within that time, you find that we did not find a good match for you, please return the horse to the Rescue.

Paso Fino Mare

OFF SITE ADOPTION: Campaion horse only! Her temperament is exceptional. She is sweet, well-mannered, patient, kind and loving. She stands quietly, leads on a draped leadline, halts when you halt, and loves to be brushed and groomed. She loves mini horses and small ponies. On a special diet.

Puppet & Talula

OFF SITE ADOPTION: Puppet (jenny on the left), is 29 years old and Talula (jenny on the right) is 20 years old. They have been together their entire lives and would prefer not to separate them. We do not want them to go to just anyone as they have been well cared for their whole life. They are very gentle and halter broke.

Crimson Skye

Meet Skye! She is a beautiful seventeen year old Rocky Mountain Horse. She is a papered former brood mare and has quickly bonded to Beau. She is to be adopted as a pair with Beau. She is sweet and a smooth ride. She is looking for someone who is ready to love her and dedicated to give her the special attention that she deserves.

Peanut

Meet Peanut! She is 13.3H and still growing. She was bailed at two months old with her mama and is ready to branch out on her own. She has your typical three year old behavior- curious, sassy with a loving personality. She needs someone to who can show her the ropes and train her to her full potential. She is healthy and has been handled. She has not been ridden and is ready to find her forever home!

Tia

Tia is our newest addition! She is a seventeen year old Trakehner- Arabian- Hanoverian cross. She is around 15-1 HH and a lovely mare. She is sweet, gentle and loves seeking affection from people. She needs an experienced rider who is willing to take her on trails! She is looking for someone who is dedicated to loving her forever!

River

River is a beauitful paint! She is 17 years old. She is good with her feet, easy keeper and loves attention. River is able to take anyone along for a ride- aka. husband proof! She is around 15 HH and in search of someone who can give her the special attention that she deserves!

Beau

Beautiful Beau is a twelve year old Dutch harness horse. He is 16-1 HH and is in search of an experienced rider. He is a good boy, but a lot of horse. He has a whole lot of personality and looking for someone to share it with. He is amazingly beautiful and eager to learn. Adopted as a pair with Skye.

Ruby

Ruby is a 8 year old QH and gorgeous girl. She is started, but needs restarted. She has a very engaging personality and comes when called. SCHR rescued her as a baby and she has been here since she was three months old. She is a special girl and needs someone with training skills. She will make an excellent horse for a skilled horseperson.

April And Ashley- Rescued Fresian Sisters

Meet April who is two years old and her sister Ashley who is one year old. They are only for adoption as a pair, we will not seperate them. They are beautiful and healthy and ready to be worked with!
