Horses for Adoption
It is our goal to find qualified, lifelong homes for our horses. It is very important that they are matched with the right owner and will be suitable for the job you expect them to do. We prefer that you visit the prospective adoptee three times before you take them home. However, we understand that if you are coming from a long distance it may not be practical. Thus, we will work to ensure the process is as smooth as possible and that you and the horse are a good match.
Requirements to adopt a horse:
- References - yes, we do check
- Good Fencing - We do not consider a barbed wire fence appropriate for horses.
- Adequate Shelter
- Training - If you are adopting a young horse, we expect you to have the training skills needed to take the horse along to a valued member of your family. If using a trainer, we must also approve that trainer.
- We do NOT approve boarding.
Once you have been approved to adopt and take your horse home, you are required to send us updates for a year. At the end of the year you will receive a brand inspection. If, within that time, you find that we did not find a good match for you, please return the horse to the Rescue.

Rescued Horses for Adoption
Teddy & Tio- *outside horses
Teddy and Tio are two very kind gentleman geldings in good health, in their 20s, who were adopted from a rescue several years ago, but they need a new home. They are adopted as a pair. They're both a little lean right now because their teeth were just floated, and are working to put weight on. They are used to a pasture with a shelter in New Mexico, and need daily love and a good life.
Teddy (Bay Akhal-Teke/Missouri Foxtrotter gelding, est. age 24) was previously rescued from near Santa Fe. He has definitely been trained to ride, thoughhasn't been ridden in a long time. Teddy is a wonderful, loving, and protective "boyfriend" horse. He watches over the pasture and his owner, and is very alert.
Tio (Sorrel Quarterhorse gelding, est. age 28) was previously rescued from Southwest Colorado, starved, and the only one of three horses from his pen to survive. He obviously spent his career cutting cattle, and will take it upon himself to run-down and corner any calf who gets into his field! He is VERY loving and giving, and has a wonderful temperament.
They need a new owner who will love them and work with them, and give them a good life. They have been through a lot and deserve a good home.
