Welcome to the Spring Creek Horse Rescue,

NEW - Meet Ayden & Friends

Spring Creek Horse Rescue is a 501(c)(3), non-profit organization run by Diane McCracken. It is located in Bayfield, Colorado, in the beautiful southwest corner of the state. We are dedicated to providing a second chance for abused, neglected, outgrown and unwanted equines of all breeds. We are a 100% Anti-Slaughter Rescue that emphasizes the rehabilitation and placement of horses into loving, forever homes. We also help educate the public on better horse care, handling and nutrition, and act as the La Plata County Hay Bank, providing hay for our neighbors who are unable to feed their horses.

In order to care for as many horses as possible, Spring Creek relies on the generosity of individuals who volunteer their time and expertise, donate cash and supplies, and adopt the horses in our care.

Visiting the Rescue

The rescue is located near Durango in beautiful southwest Colorado. We are open to individuals and groups by appointment only. Due to limited staffing we do not allow drop-ins. To make an appointment please contact us.

Adopting a Horse

Our ultimate goal is to find forever, loving homes for the horses in our care. Please see our Adopt a Horse page for a description of the process and a list of available horses

Donating

As with any animal rescue, we have a number of one-time and on-going needs. If you are passionate about helping animals in need, please visit our Donation page to see how you can help.

Volunteering

One of the most difficult and rewarding things you can do is volunteer for an animal rescue. The two things we can promise are that you will never be bored and you will make a difference. Visit our Volunteer page to see how you can help.
